About me…

Not many people know, but when I was born, my parents decided to name me after the Bronte sisters Charlotte & Emily – a fun fact about me that I absolutely love.
I can trace my own love of the written word right back to my childhood, and it was in English lessons that I became fascinated by stories and the power of storytelling.
From William Blake to Thomas Hardy, I plunged into reading that was well beyond my years, and which, at times, I could barely understand.

Books, books & more books…

I was fascinated by the beauty of the writing and the way that a good story, takes the listener on a journey within and outside of themselves. I began to learn how carefully crafted words can paint the most vivid pictures, how they touch into our feelings and insights, and how they connect us to each other in the deepest of ways.

The threads of gold in every human story…

My career path has been varied.. a degree in Environmental Science followed by 10 years in environmental protection work. Then a change of direction, a masters degree in complementary healthcare and 12 years supporting people with their physical and mental health.
It was during my time in healthcare that I was privileged to hear over a thousand personal stories that covered the depth and breadth of what it is to be human.  I learnt how to be a good listener and a compassionate curator. I also learnt that there are threads of gold that weave their way through every human story.

How I became a celebrant…

This work, in the first instance, chose me.  After crafting and leading two beautiful, family-led celebrations of life for people I loved dearly, I instinctively knew this was a calling I’d trained my whole life for and couldn’t ignore.
My passion is to create beautiful, rich ceremonies and rituals that share your story or the story of someone dear to you, in the way you would like it to be told; to capture those threads of gold and weave them into something meaningful, memorable and maybe a little bit magical.
